Christmas Sign Board

Back in November, I listed a few Holiday decor I wanted to do this year and one of them is a Christmas sign board! And I did! It’s not perfect but at least I get to try some free-hand lettering. What a learning experience! And fun to have a sign board with the exact message I want on it!

The board I used is a spare shelving piece we have in our closet. We have quite a few and I’ve been wanting so make a sign board out of it!

It is painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Paris Grey.

I first drafted the words in chalk as my guide. Just to make sure it’s straight as much as possible.

And with my thinnest paint brush, I painted the words with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Emperor’s silk. I diluted the paint with water for easier writing.

After wiping some chalk and excess paint, I sanded the words a bit and then applied some clear wax and then dubbed small amounts of dark wax onto the words to darken the colour a bit.

Tada! That’s it! I really need a good brush and still in a journey of finding a good one as well as a good tutorial on hand lettering. If you know any, let me know!!

Now, my mind and my hand is itching to do one for the spring and summer!!

The Christmas sign board currently hangs in our entryway wishing visitors a Merry Christmas!!
