Watercolour Inspiration

Gosh, It’s been a month since I wrote a post! But I’m back now! I want to have a record of my progress as I learn to paint with watercolour.  It is fun to read some of my old blog posts when I was learning how to paint furniture. So I thought I’d do the same for this new artistic adventure. I’ve been researching through books I borrowed in the library, you tube videos and other blog posts and I think I’ve come to the conclusion as to which style of watercolour painting I’d like to explore Read more […]

Tracy Harrison on Clay and Pottery

One of the many things in my bucket list that hopefully I can do this year is learning pottery. With my current interest in tea pots and tea sets (thanks to my friend Grace).. I’ve been imagining serving and drinking in my own, made by me tea set! Oh what a sight in my imagination! I couldn’t even describe the joy of opening my cupboard and seeing the work of my hands and most of all, sipping a delicious tea from it. Feels like heaven to me! On Jan. 1st of this year my husband decided to go on Read more […]

Inspiration – Calligraphy And Hand Lettering

For the past weeks I’ve been wanting to try calligraphy or at least in a less formal way, hand lettering.  But instead of a calligraphy pen, I want to use a paint brush.. for now.  I am not dismissing the idea of learning calligraphy at its finest.  It’s fun and easier in a way because all you need is a pen, ink, and paper.  I also find it very relaxing since I have to really slow down as I do the strokes. I’ve stumbled upon people in person and on Instagram (gotta love social media, right?) Read more […]

The French Bench Makeover Reveal Post

This is my latest accomplishment! I combined upholstery and a new painting technique at the same time! I love it so much! Really! Let me call it.. The French Bench Makeover.. The bench is painted with Annie Sloan’s Decorative Paint, Chalk Paint® in Paris Grey with Dark Wax and then topped with Clear Wax with Old White.  You can see a full post on how I painted it here. But.. also, let me start this post by borrowing these words from Amanda Brown’s book SPRUCE and owner of SPRUCE Read more […]

Catherine Tsang, Redefining Nail Artistry

One night, Ricky asked me if I want my nails done.  I’m having second thoughts.. why? 1) I don’t grow my nails long.  They are always short. 2) Do I really need beautiful nails when all I do is, clean, cook, wash the dishes and do diaper changes in between. But then I said yes and I am glad I did and met Catherine Tsang, a nail artist and blogger at Sunday Beauty where she writes about her journey through nail artistry as she completes a her program at Blanche Macdonald as well as Read more […]

From Stencilling to Decorative Hand Painting

Introduction I’m into a new adventure.. I could not believe where furniture painting has brought me into.   I started painting home decor and home furnitures last June 23rd of this year.  It started with a small mantel clock and now, I just finished our dining table (blog post coming soon)!  It’s been four months since then and I could not believe where it took me and what creativity it has opened. I have no art degree or anything.. I grew up believing I couldn’t draw or paint.  I may have Read more […]

Dragging Painting Technique Test Piece – Not Just Another Tray

This is a post for the Anne and Annie Series and a tutorial on how to do the Dragging Painting Technique. I think I am so drawn to trays.  This is the 2nd time I’ve painted a tray.. Oh wait, I did a decoupage on my first one..  I also bought a few stainless trays from the thrift store.  I may have a tray collection in no time.  Who knows?! It is just so useful, I guess and very easy to restyle as long as you have the vision. I Call This, The Boat Tray I got this tray Read more […]
